Looking for easy holiday decorating ideas? You may already have just what you need in your spice cabinet!

Cinnamon is one of the most popular holiday scents. The spicy aroma conjures up happy memories of Christmases past. Here are some easy ways to use cinnamon for your winter home décor.

Wrap a green silk ribbon around a group of cinnamon sticks, then tuck some red berries under the ribbon. Place this fragrant bundle on a coffee or entry table with other seasonal decorations.

Store cinnamon in a see-though canister on your kitchen counter so it’s handy to use for your hot cider and decorative holiday projects.

Tie cinnamon sticks around a candle with raffia.

Revive old potpourri by adding a few small pine cones and whole nuts like walnuts and almonds. Spray the potpourri with a mixture of essential cinnamon oil and water. Display in decorative tins or bowls.

Lightly mist your faux winter wreaths, garland and poinsettias with your cinnamon spritzer. Do this outside in case colors run. Bring inside once dry.

Create a centerpiece with fruit, cinnamon sticks and candles.

Arrange several cinnamon-scented pillar candles together and light them to release their festive aromas while you are entertaining in your home.

Insert ribbon-wrapped cinnamon sticks into indoor plants.

Secure three to five cinnamon sticks into small bundles with hot glue. Once cooled, tie the bundles with long, thin ribbons. Then try one or all of these ideas:

•  Hot glue one bundle to 2-inch-wide festive ribbon, cut 12 inches in length. Then tie the ribbon around napkins for glamorous cinnamon napkin holders.

•  Fasten wire ornament hangers to the back sides of the cinnamon bundles to create homemade ornaments for your Christmas tree.

•  Use the cinnamon bundles to adorn your gift-wrapped presents for a unique and festive touch.

Last but not least, this fun and easy craft is popular, and bears mentioning simply because the results are so beautiful. Start with a colored pillar candle at least four inches tall, then hot glue cinnamon sticks upright around the entire circumference of the candle. Allow the glue to dry and tie a metallic, gingham, or other festive ribbon around the cinnamon sticks. Place your candle on a tabletop, kitchen counter or bathroom for a homemade holiday accent.

Happy holidays!
