Plantation Golf & Country Club
"One, two, three, fore . . . and more"

Quietly nestled off Highway 41 in south Venice is a friendly, active golf and country club known for its ‘comfortable elegance.’ Plantation Golf & Country Club is a private, member-owned equity club, boasting the finest of amenities.

With the impeccably maintained golf courses and very active social calendar, you will never run out of enjoyable things to do.

What makes Plantation so different from the rest? Plantation Golf & Country Club offers two premier championship golf courses - the Panther and the Bobcat. These courses were originally designed by architect Ron Garl, and recently renovated by New York’s Stephen Kay. Both the Bobcat and the Panther feature luxurious fairways complete with lakes and beautiful landscaping, however, the courses are very different from one another. The Bobcat has long, open, rolling hills, whereas the Panther is narrower and more target-oriented, making the Plantation courses very playable for all levels of golfers. The courses are well-groomed and known for their excellent conditions - a perfect recipe for playing and putting year round. No matter what your level of play is, you’ll feel comfortable teeing off from one of the six tee boxes found at each hole.

Annually, Plantation Golf & Country Club hosts numerous Florida state golf championships, multiple corporate outings and major fund raising tournaments for local charities, totaling over 200 tournaments per year. For the past 19 consecutive years, Plantation has hosted the LPGA Tour Qualifier School. One of only two schools in the country, all female players must attend this school to qualify for a tour card. “The LPGA Tour chooses Plantation because of the challenging courses, our member volunteers and our professional staff,” states PGA Director of Golf, Keith Struble, who has been head of the Pro Shop professional staff for 18 years now. And this professional staff may well be the most decorated in south Florida, as evidenced by the many awards and plaques adorning the Pro Shop walls and shelves.

“You do not have to be a resident of Plantation to enjoy this wonderful club,” says General Manager, Barry McDonald. “However, you do need to be a member, be the guest of a member, or be involved in an outside tournament.” Membership gives you access to seemingly endless events, activities and amenities. Commenting on all of the activities available, Membership Director, Diane Batista, says, “There’s so much to do here, you’ll think you’re at a day camp for adults!”

If you like to maintain a healthy lifestyle, a daily workout in their well-equipped fitness center will help you achieve that goal. This complete exercise facility provides a well-rounded workout and offers a variety of equipment and free weights to help keep you in shape. A massage therapist is also on staff to provide relaxation after a good workout.

Tennis, anyone?  Plantation Golf & Country Club has 13 Har-tru clay courts, of which 5 are available with lighting for night play. Har-tru is the ideal surface because it is easier on the back and joints. These courts are meticulously groomed; they are scraped, watered and painted every day. Also available is the stadium court for competitions, clinics and tournaments. This court can accommodate up to 600 people. If it’s tennis equipment and sporty attire you need to gear you up for a rousing game, Plantation has a full service pro shop with a USPA certified teaching professional on staff.

Plantation’s members also enjoy the heated, junior-Olympic size swimming pool, private sauna and relaxing Jacuzzi. Cocktails and lunch are served right to your pool deck chair while you’re soaking up the Florida sunshine. The private library can provide tranquil moments away from the non-stop whirlwind of social events, or you can get together with friends for a friendly game of cards in the freshly decorated Hibiscus Room.

For your dining pleasure, the skills of the culinary team at the Bermuda Grill are unmatched in the area. This award-winning team prepares meals from casual to fine dining. You can enjoy a relaxed dinner in the Members’ Private Lounge, or a more formalized setting in the main dining room, where they will even indulge you with tableside meal preparation.

In addition to all of the wonderful amenities and the two outstanding golf courses Plantation has, its members are what set Plantation apart from all other clubs in the area. Many new members join Plantation as a direct result of knowing a member. New members are welcomed through their Ambassador’s Club, and continue to be mentored through the Member Liaison Program for the first several weeks, so they feel right at home and part of the Plantation “family.”
