What makes Bill Evans, interior designer, so good at
what he does? Bill’s formula for success is this: 37
years experience, creative visualization, good listening
skills, and excellent resources and suppliers.
Many of us have good taste in home furnishings but we’re
lost when it comes to placement—and some of us need a
bit more help than that. No matter how big or small the
job, you’ll find Bill’s artistic talents to be
indispensable. Whether your style is Eastern,
contemporary, traditional, tropical or eclectic, Bill
can help you pull it all together.
Though he always has ideas dancing in his head, this designer
knows the importance of listening to his clients.
He’ll ask many questions, with the understanding
that everyone is unique and desires their own
distinctive space. “You’ve got to spend time with
each client to discover what he or she enjoys
doing,” says Bill. “You have to get to know their
personality and learn what their hobbies and habits
are.”
Considerable thought goes into every custom interior design;
sometimes the ideas come to him right away and other
times he’ll say he needs to “sleep on it” to figure out
what would work best to create that perfect haven. After
getting a feel for an individual’s style, Bill will come
up with two or three different plans.
A recent fun challenge for Bill was to blend newlyweds
Carolyn and Kent Swaims’ very different styles
together into one welcoming, stylish place they
would call home. Carolyn’s taste was tropical with
the use of many natural woods and neutral colors,
whereas
Kent’s furnishings were darker and more traditional.
Bill worked with what the Swaims already owned, spicing
things up a bit with splashes of color, thoughtfully
placed mirrors and complementary pieces of art. The
clever merge involved painting some of the natural
wood and wrought iron surfaces with an accent color
and tying the dining room wallpaper in with the sofa
fabric in the adjoining living room. The end
result—an inviting blend of tastes as wonderfully
individual as the couple themselves. The Swaims are
thrilled with their stylish and comfortable home.
Bill Evans’ studio is a full service design shop
that caters to all types of tastes. Bill keeps up
with today’s trends through continuing education,
and he only works with proven suppliers, contractors
and artists.
